What:
Raden is a browser-based texture generator for exploring the structure and color of natural materials.
Why:
The project attempts to recreate layered growth, mineral bands, flowing pigment, and other surface patterns can emerge from mathematical rules. Each texture family is built around a distinct structure.
How:
Seeded noise fields and mode-specific geometry produce the underlying texture. Controls adjust its structure, palette, and surface treatment before the result is rendered to a canvas. A fixed seed makes variations reproducible, while parameter locks allow selected properties to stay in place during randomization.
The app also includes layered source and effect controls, gallery snapshots, undo/redo, and cropped image export. Rendered textures can be saved as PNG, JPEG, or WebP.
Material studies
These samples were rendered directly in the app using fixed seeds. The card uses the Mother of Pearl sample; the hero combines the three materials with parallel diagonal cuts.
In progress
Development is focused on making each texture mode more distinct and its controls easier to understand. Procedural stages and their dependencies are being made more explicit so that changes to structure, color, and effects remain easier to inspect and reproduce.
